CDC Guyana Participates in Kampala PEPFAR Meet
Chief of Party of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Guyana), Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, headed a 10-member team to the 2008 PEPFAR Implementer's Meeting, June 3-7 in Kampala, Uganda. Along with Dr. Hasbrouck and several other CDC staff, Guyana’s Ministry of Health was represented by Dr. Shanti Singh, Patrick Mentore, and three others. The meeting attracted some 1,700 attendees.
The objectives of the meeting were to widely disseminate lessons learned during the implementation of multi-sectoral HIV/AIDS programs; catalyze an open dialogue about future directions of HIV/AIDS programs; and directly impact HIV/AIDS program implementation in the upcoming year through the diffusion of best practices and lessons learned.
Participation from the Guyana team included a poster by Nicolette Henry and an oral presentation by Patrick Mentore.
