Obtaining Guyanese Civil Documents

The Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages will supply a copy of a birth, death or marriage certificate to appropriate people (normally immediate family members) on request. You can make a request by completing the relevant application form and sending it to the Registry by mail. The application forms can be purchased at any post office in Guyana. Certificates are normally mailed within ten working days of receipt of the application and fee. Please note that at present due to the high demand for certificates, customers may experience longer waiting times than usual.

If you are residing  outside of Guyana, you can apply for a Guyanese birth, marriage or death certificate at the nearest Guyanese Consulate, or you can send your application or request along with a Postal order valued US$5.00 to the Registrar General at the address stated below. Remember to enclose a return address.
