Political/Economic Section
Overview
The Economic/Commercial Section at the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown, Guyana, advises the Chief of Mission and the United States Government on Guyana’s economic and commercial policies as well as the United States - Guyana economic and trade relationship. We analyze Guyana’s macroeconomic trends and policies and their potential impact on United States interests. We follow issues relating to agriculture, energy, finance, intellectual property rights, labor rights and relations, transportation, telecommunications, and environment, science and technology, and health (ESTH).
We also promote the export of goods and services from the United States; offer advice to individuals and businesses from the U.S. that seek to invest in and/or do business in Guyana; advocate on behalf of U.S. citizens and businesses in need of assistance in Guyana; and inform U.S. individuals and businesses about Guyana’s investment climate
The Economic/Commercial Section partners with United States Department of Commerce in Washington DC and their Commercial Service Caribbean Regional Office in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to help promote United States business interests. The Section also offers the following services to United States businesses: commercial advocacy, market research, trade leads, company profile and company checks.
